About Me

My name is Viktor Kabaniaev. I graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia and worked as a principal dancer in several companies in the former Soviet Union, Germany, and in the United States including Boris Eifman Ballet, the Russian Ballet,Komiche Oper Berlin, The Dortmund Ballet, The Hanover Ballet and Diablo Ballet. I have performed roles in many classical, neo-classical and modern ballets. Mr. Kabaniaev’s first choreography “Adagietto” was awarded a "Special Prize" at the 29th Annual Ballet Festival of Japan, Tokyo in 1997. In 2004 I received "First Laureate" for choreography "White Light" at the 3rd International Serge Diahgilev Competition for Choreographers in Gdynia, Poland. In 2005 Mr. Kabaniaev received "Grand Prize" for choreography "Duet" at the 8th Annual Dance Under The Stars Choreography Festival in Palm Desert, California. My choreographies have been performed by companies such Cincinnati Ballet, Diablo Ballet, Moving Arts Dance, AIS Ballet, Japan,Troymesky Teater, Poland, Ultimatum Step, France. Recently, Mr. Kabaniaev received “Outstanding Choreographer Award” on Youth America Grand Prix 2007 in San Francisco.
